Judit Collection

The Judit Collection are a set of rings created by artist József Tom Kovacs. They are simply designed porcelain rings in the shape of doll heads. Some are white with a smooth glaze applied. Others have delicate faces painted on them. Some are layered in gold leaf.

Kovacs was inspired to make the doll head form by his girlfriend’s jewelry choices. She had made a plastic doll head into a ring by drilling a hole through the doll. Unfortunately, one day she lost it. So her boyfriend remade it for her with porcelain. She loved the surprised, and Kovacs realized how much the change in medium heightened the jewelry’s design. The doll head shape was elevated from a unique grunge subculture feel to being something almost otherworldly.
